Au pair or a part time housekeeper?

I have just moved city for my daughter's school and found very hard to cope as a single mum. My ex used to take her most weekends but he can only do once a month now because of the distance. I work from home most time but need to travel for work a few days a month. My daughter is 13 so not much physical help needed. she can walk to school herself. but she has some mental health issue and sometimes get very stressed and moody. so I found emotional drain. I am very tired of cleaning and cooking as well. I am wondering if au pair or something else would suit better? I probably need someone to cook one or two meal a day, clean the house, and support my daughter when she gets frustrated. I did some research it seems au pair may not do house task, but housekeeper doesn't cook. what kind of person can I get to do a bit of everything? I am kind of private person so a bit unsure about the idea of someone lives in, but it might be helpful to have a little bit help everyday. thanks for letting me what do you think?

An au pair is an extra pair of hands and not suitable for bearing responsibility of a child while the parent is away for an extended period of time.

I would look for a childminder who does overnights and hire a cleaner to come in either weekly or every other week to do the basics.

I think you could definitely find a housekeeper that cooks and does basic cleaning and jobs around the house.
I'm looking for one in south London at the moment and is been complicated by the fact that one of the children needs picking up from school as is only 9. If you were just asking for a housekeeper with a bit of gentle support I'm sure you would find someone

I think a housekeeper is probably closest to what you want. It could also be a Mother's Help role. You're best off advertising the job and just who applies. There's a lot of grey area with jobs like this so don't worry too much about the title.

The only thing you may need is a cleaner in addition because lots of people who would be happy to do the cooking, childcare and household tasks won't want to do a full clean (bathrooms etc).

Locally would be your best bet. Facebook childcare or job groups or just local neighborhood ones. If you have a street WhatsApp or school WhatsApp ask there. Just ask around generally, word of mouth is often the best. You could also try childcare.co.uk, Gumtree or Indeed.

A housekeeper would be amazing help. If you can afford it, get a pair.

Where can I advertise this?
The Lady Magazine, that always used to be the go to place to seek jobs of this type, I see they now have an online version.
