Unsure about preschool

So my son started pre-school today and there were a few red flags before he started, but now I am pretty sure I'd like to take him out and for him to go elsewhere. The pre-school have said I have to give half a term notice, so I'd need to pay for the next six weeks. He has only done one day but obv we are in some sort of contract - although I haven't signed anything.

Anyone know what rights I have to take him out and not pay the hundreds of pounds?

Depends how serious the red flags were, I.e were they serious enough that the preschool would be in breach of contract?

What are your issues?

I would say there's not much they can do if you haven't signed anything or agreed to any terms and conditions. On the other hand, times are very tough for preschools and your child has had a place reserved that they could have given to someone else. Why don't you discuss your concerns first?

Needmorelego · 07/09/2022 08:44

What do you mean by 'pre - school'. That's usually for 3 year olds, 15 hours a week and is free.
If you are paying then you must have him in 'childcare' nursery not pre school.
Were you expecting a different environment or is it safety related?
If safety then you need to contact the relevant authorities.

What's your concerns?

Preschool, is it a private nursery?

If you haven't signed anything I'm guessing you'd have to pay tbh

Hi all!

It's a preschool (15 hours free, the rest paid unless both parents work and then it's 30 hours free).

ANYWAY - all sorted! They have agreed to only charge us £50!

You will need to check if they are holding a months notice of the funding before agreeing to spend any elsewhere. LAs have their own rules some pay a months notice some say setting must pay on to new setting. Some won't have paid until headcount week.
