Hi quick one, if your children have to attend an afternoon club at school that is paid for does this count as a childcare cost? Thanks in advance!

Only if it is childcare.

clubs and extra curricular activities aren’t covered as childcare.

No they need to be registered childcare providers. So formal after-school care would count, but random after school clubs and activities wouldn't

"an afternoon club at school"

If it's an after school club, which allows you to work a longer working day (wrap around care) and it is registered, then yes.

If it's an optional activity-type club, then no (unless it also functions as wrap-around and is registered)

Thank you all for responses, so am I correct that the first question I need to ask will be to the school regarding if they're registered then I can use that information to ask a question in the UC journal?

DS attends out of school club (in his school) a couple of times a week and the cost of this can be put through UC.
If DS attends the coding club/running club/choir etc after school one night that I pay for, this can't be put through UC
