Splitting 30 free hours. I am a bit confused.

I wasn't expecting to be splitting the hours as she only goes to the childminder 1 day per week, but it turns out the nursery proportion the hours so if you only attend 3 days you only get 3/5 x 30 = 18 free hours. I didn't realise and am finding it quite confusing.

Is it the same gov.uk code for both? Or is there some way to generate a second code?
Do I need to put the childminder's details on my government account or does she do all the registration side?
I have read that providers do not have to agree to share hours. Can they still refuse even if they are effectively not offering me the 30 hours a week?

I was told that the primary care provider (the place they go to the most) gets the funding and then they pay the other provider for the hours they go to the other place but I don't know how accurate that is

Not true.

Up to 3 providers can be named and can have a share of your 30 hours. All are funded directly from the government.

The form asks for a principle provider to be named for if you are no longer eligible for the 30 hours and only get 15. It wants to know which single provider you would want to get the 15 hours universal funding and then you would be expected to pay the rest yourself. It doesn’t really matter who you name if this isn’t likely to happen anyway.

@Pigsinmuck No there's virtually no chance of going down to 15 hours. When you say form, is that a form I have to fill out or are you referring to one the providers do?

Sorry that above one was me...name change.

@Pigsinmuck fair enough, I didn't end up splitting my son's provision so didn't get into the whole process. Thanks for clarifying for OP 😊

@Xdecd each setting should provide you with a funding form which you need to complete in order for them to claim the hours. As pp said, you need to state on the form how you want your universal/additional funding split between providers and you MUST have the split the same across all forms or the local authority won't pay any of the providers and you'll be invoiced instead

Your provider will usually fill it in for you and just ask you to sign it. You need to check they have got both providers listed on it and the hours at each are right. So if you use 2 providers you will do 2 forms, one from each, but both providers will be listed on both forms. Hope that makes sense.

@Pigsinmuck thank you so much, that makes things a bit clearer. I will speak to nursery about it tomorrow in that case.
