Redundancy

Would appreciate any advice on making our full time nanny redundant. We'd like to arrange a part time nanny/housekeeper (our nanny won't do housekeeping - it wouldn't be cleaning - just sorting, some laundry, errands when the kids are at school etc). Our children have outgrown the nanny and she doesn't do much for most of the day, even during the school holidays. I've got a new local job so can't really afford (and we don't need) a full time nanny.

She's been with us for a long time so I assume redundancy pay will need to be factored in.

She's lovely and I want to be as good to her as possible. I feel terrible letting her go.

How long is a long time?

I was on your thread about your DD getting in to Oxbridge.

aged 44 😂

Sorry if unclear - that was the mistake I made at the time of the thread! Thinking she was 44!

I don't understand? Sorry. Should I?

1 min Google

Redundancy pay is based on your earnings before tax (called gross pay). For each full year you've worked for your employer, you get: up to age 22 - half a week's pay. age 22 to 40 - 1 week's pay

You have a valid and legal reason. She doesn’t want the job that you now require of a nanny.

If you feel guilty, buy her a nice gift, enhanced redundancy and…. Well what’s more?

She must have been expecting redundancy coming as your youngest has got older etc.
