Considering a nanny

When my DS went up from the baby room to the toddler part of his nursery, his behaviour around other children became very challenging and aggressive, snatching, hitting and even some biting, which was very upsetting as he’d been a very gentle baby.

I put this down to normal toddler development but he’s been at home more this summer and his behaviour has been much better.

I am now wondering if nursery is just a bit too intense for him and am considering a nanny. I’m not sure how to go about finding a qualified one and costs - can anyone steer me?

Nannytax survey is a place to start looking at costs: www.nannytax.co.uk/nanny-salary-index

Once you know have an idea of the gross salary, then you can use a PAYE calculator to calculate Employers National Insurance and Employer Pension contribution.

Then factor in cost of activities/outings.

Factor in providing nanny with lunch. Also heating/lighting will likely be higher in comparison to nobody being at home.

Roughly expect it to be about 2.5 times nursery cost for one child.
