Yea!!! I have a new nanny beginning in March. I blardy hate the hiring proces.. So glad it is now done and dusted...

So, how is it going for everyone else?

Is that all we get... no juicy details? Did you end up having another Canadian? Congratulations on finding a new nanny.

Sorry... I was afraid you'd all probably heard enough.

She is actually from Poland. She seems very nice. Her reference said she was very tidy (YEA!!!!!! ) and she seems very nice. Fingers crossed...

The only down side is that she's only available until mid September. So I'll be doing this all again before I know it. But, in September, DS will start school part time so hopefully that will make the job a bit more appealing and make my next hunt a bit easier.

I want an au pair but don't even know where to start. The process terrifies me.

eleusis · 21/01/2008 06:02

When do you want her to start? If you can do a July start it's very easy to find lots of suitable candidates.

Congratulations eleusis. When does she start?

My ap will be leaving 'summer time'. I was thinking of having a break from ap's over the summer holidays (I'm a SAHM, so might do some travelling & visiting over the summer). Do you think I'll really struggle to find another ap to start in September?

nannyL · 21/01/2008 09:38

laura03....

my aunt and uncle got a new au pair who started in september 2007 i dont think they found finding her hard

Page62 · 21/01/2008 09:38

well done eleusis,
see, she wasn't put off by the 5 mile hike to the bus stop, the 30 minute bus ride to the train station, the two trains (with a dodgy connection), and the 10 minute hike the other end to take your kids to nursery!
hehehee.

eleusis · 21/01/2008 09:40

Yeah, and she has to sleep outside too. But, if she's a good girl, we'll let her have the garage after she successfully completes the probationary period.

Laura, I think SEptember is pretty good actually. You may find a market of Au Pairs who have come only for the summer but decide they want to stay, so will look for another job in September when their summer job finishes.

Fingers crossed for both of us in September!!
