I'm just wondering if anyone has a mothers help and if so what they pay them and what they do - what exactly is 'light' housework?? I've got someone interested in helping me look after my 2 boys (age 6 mnths and 2.5 yrs) and she has asked me what I would pay her per hour - I have no idea. Have had a quick look on net but cant find much definitive info. We live in Exeter if that makes a diff.

I am doing a mothers help position in Essex 3 children; 1 at school, I will be doing a bit of washing, plishing and hoovering, maybe dishwasher etc but no heavy duty chores; live in I will be getting £300 net

I would define light housework as general tidying up, loading dishwasher, hoovering, making beds, some laundry. I would say in your area the going rate would be £6- 7hr net. Mother's helps are usually cheaper than a nanny.
