30 hours free- Starting School

Hi all,
DS starts school in September, (I am a teacher at a different school - relevant as sorting childcare for transition)
So the first 3 weeks of term are half days and transition as is usual. The first week is just a home visit and a Friday afternoon stay and play. So I have asked to keep him in nursery until that Friday.
Had a message this morning saying it's full fees as I will lose my 30 hours as he is starting school.
Is this correct? I know we lose 30 hours when he starts school but at this point he won't have actually started school, and he's not 5 until January so not actually compulsory school age?

Anyone know the facts on this one?

Thanks
Claire

Yes… The school gets the money as of September for your child’s education.

Yes, the school get the money as you are enrolled with them. BTW, I am also a teacher and fineld the prolonged transition into reception ridiculous. A lot of children have been going to nursery full time and for those who can't just take holidays it is a nightmare. Was lucky as my children had inset days, half day Wednesday and Thursday and then in fully Friday. 4 yo are much more resilient than we think.

Yeah it's a nightmare trying to get the time off! Luckily I have good friends and a great head. There are 3 of us on SLT with children starting reception that week, so let's hope not much goes wrong in my school!

Schools get paid full funding from September the 1st. In my area some are still not started by the 3rd week
