Help, what kind

Hi. I'm new to mumsnet but have a few questions so you may see me around. Apologies too for not knowing any of the abbreviations. I have a 20 month old daughter and am expecting twins in April. I don't have a huge local support network so am thinking of getting some help in, only I don't really know what. I don't want a full time nanny and I don't think I really want an au pair living full time in my house. Can anyone offer any advice?
Thanks

There are plenty of nannies who will do part-time live out work, or you could advertise for a mother's help. They will do childcare (but shouldn't have sole-charge for long periods) and housework.

If it's just help after the birth for a few months you want you could try a post-natal doula?

I don't know whereabouts you're located but if you have a local Gumtree you could try posting on there, or if you decide to go the doula route contacting Doula UK might be a good idea.

What do you want help with? Does your DD attend nursery of any type? I'd suggest at the very least a cleaner, but hopefully more of a mothers help, so she could do some cleaning, maybe watch the twins whilst you have a shower... whatever you need on that day. By April your DD will be two, so if she's not in nursery, I'd suggest starting her now so she doesn't feel pushed out to nursery when the twins arrive. Then if she's out a couple of mornings a week, you can at least sleep if the twins do.

There is a multiples board on here too - have you found that? I'm sure those ladies are the experts in this.
