After school nanny - tax obligations?

I'm trying to find an after school nanny for my daughter - probably only for about 8 hours a week in term time only. I'm looking through Koru Kids as they will organise all the payroll/tax/pension stuff, but I am also about to interview someone found through childcare.co.uk.

I've never had a nanny, so I have no idea what my obligations are really. I think I would need to engage a nanny payroll company to sort it all out for me as I really haven't a clue.

Does anyone have any tips about who is best to use for this?

It's a bit of nightmare situation - my DD is autistic and struggling with after school clubs which were our original wrap around care solution! However for obvious reasons after school nannies are hard to find.

NannyPaye or PAYEforNannies.

As you are offering permanent work, you are the employer. Due to the low hours, there may be little to no employers NI depending on the pay rate. Pension scheme would need to exist (Nest is easy) but employee would not need to be auto enrolled due to pay under £10k but has the right to join and depending on pay level there may be a little employer pension contribution.

Thanks! I assume the payroll company would be able to cope with the fact that it would be a term time only job?

Nannytax is another option. They can cope with whatever hours you agree. And it’s easy to change

Agree a gross rate per hour

In the end I managed to find someone suitable through Koru Kids so no need to worry any more about any of the tax thank goodness!
