Ummmmm, no idea!
If there is I want to know about it!

Council tax comes into it when you do your yearly accounts.

10% is tax deductable if working 40+ hours (or pro rata below that), if memory serves me correctly????

mollythetortoise · 12/01/2008 21:15

i think it is not that you can get it cheaper, more that you can offset a proportion of such household bills against your income to pay less income tax at the end of the year. ie. they can be tax deductable business expenses. am sure someone can tell you for sure

Sorry, don't think I had read your message properly.

Is 10% for water rates and I think rent too, and 25% for gas and electric (but please don't quote me on that).

KatyMac · 12/01/2008 21:19

33% for gas & elec

& it's an ofset against tax

star1976 · 12/01/2008 21:22

Thanks katymac! Was looking at last years accounts and trying to figure percentage in my head (it is Saturday night and am very tired).

There's lots of things you can offset against your business, robin. As Katy says and also things like wear and tear on your house. Cleaning things, cleaner if you want one. So many things.

Why don't you contact you local Surestart/Early Years team at the council and get yourself on an induction course? Even if you're not thinking about it for a couple of years, it might help you work out if its the job for you.

Very happy to answer any questions on here though!

southernbelle77 · 12/01/2008 21:29

It was the induction course that made me do it straight away! I went along thinking that I really didn't think I'd like it and came away feeling as though I had a new lease of life! Felt motivated about something work related for the first time in a long time!
Go do it Robin, it's well worth it
