Scissors for newborns

Girls, advise a good pair of scissors for newborns. I bought cheaper, but they do not cut well, the baby's nails are long, and to cut them off is not possible. What kind do you use?

Tiny little nail clippers from Boots. I've never got on with scissors. I did get some of the file things you attach to your thumb but they were so fiddly

My teeth. I always nibbled my newborns nails 😂

LemonChiffon · 27/04/2022 10:53

I read the thread title and though 'you should NOT buy a newborn scissors to play with, that's so dangerous!' 😂

Sorry I have no useful suggestions but I think I bought baby nail scissors in Boots.

Tommee tippee ones are good. I hate the nail clippers as accidently caught LO's finger in it and I just crumbled into thinking I was the world's worst mother!

For DD1 I bought the Tommiee Tippiee set and painstakingly filed each nail down when she was sleeping.
DD2 I used my teeth 😂
I didn’t get on with scissors though, now she’s old I use the boots tiny clippers.

Little clippers definitely rather than scissors

I use tommee tippie nail clippers they are quite small and easy to use. I also use a baby nail file that goes on your thumb which is great on sharp corners

Glenthebattleostrich · 27/04/2022 22:50

I used to bite DDs nails when she fed.

I bit at first, then got some teeny nail clippers. Only started using scissors when DS was about 2.

At first I bought some with small blades, I don't remember the name. Then I bought manicure scissors for babies https://zamberg.com/collections/baby-scissors . They are smaller than the scissors for adults, and the blades are shorter, to ensure a more gentle and comfortable cut.We have been using them only for two years now.

I personally have always been too scared as I accidentally cut my daughters thumb the first time I cut her nails. From then on I just bite them. She's 2.5 and I still bite her nails and toenails
