UC Childcare

Hi

I currently claim the UC element of childcare as I work full time 45 hours per week as a single mother

I am looking at taking my daughter from her full time 5 days per week childminder and swapping 2 of the days for a local pre school as it's closer to home and I want to get her in more of a routine and wearing uniform etc to get her ready for school in a way...

My question is, do UC pay towards 2 childcare providers or just 1?

So she would be with her usual childminder 3 days per week and then a new pre school 2 days per week.

Thanks

School readiness has nothing to do with wearing a uniform. Your childminder will be preparing her for school as its part of the requirement. Does she self dress, self toilet, listen to stories, follow instructions, ask for help, socialise with others, turn take, do messy play, is she starting to recognise her name? This is school readiness for a child in reception.

I was asking for information on UC childcare and whether or not they will provide for 2 childcare providers or not, my reasons for putting my daughter into pre school twice a week is my personal choice and decision?

They’ll pay for two providers no problem but they’ll only pay up to a maximum of £646 per month for one child regardless of how many settings it is

Of course it is your choice I'm only saying becouse not everyone understands that there is no difference in the offerings of settings some will imagine lessons for example. Is your child eligible for funding yet? If so consider which is the best way to use it...you get 15 or 30 hours term time or can stretch it...if you used it with the cm you could stretch it then pay the preschool with directly this may use your full funding with one provider. Is your cm happy to do the remaining 14 weeks full time as preschool tends to be term time and short days?

Yes they will. You can add an additional provider.

Does the school-like pre-school offer holiday care? Many school-based preschools only operate for the 38 weeks of term-time so you may need to factor in the additional costs of holiday care.
