Nanny cost

Asking for a friend who is working full time and needs some help with the kids and around the house.

Currently he is taking the kids to the childminder but its not working out for him. He would like someone to pick up the kids from school, cook for them and do some light cleaning. On days that the kids will be away he'd like some help with cleaning instead.

Is that possible to find?

How many hours would he need her for? I suggested 4 but is that reasonable?

How much would that cost? He lives in London.

And any suggestions of where to start looking?

Thank you

PS: the kids are 7 and 8

Hi
Many nanny/housekeepers are looking for salaries of £12-15 net per hour. Your friend will have to become their employer (it's quite simple to do). The company "nanny matters" have extensive information on this including paying taxes and pension etc.
I think the main issue would be the location, are they on a good tube/bus route should the nanny get a morning position?
Look at local agencies who supply part time staff.
Good luck

Make sure your friend offers a gross wage. Not nett

Many agencies seem to say nett

When you say kids not there do you mean at their mums

Good nannies don’t clean houses

Or else they would be cleaners

They will loom after the children’s area and wash their clothes snd cook etc

If only after school it needs to be a good job and wage for say 3/7

What happens in holidays

We live in S London and it costs us £17ph gross. We found our nanny by advertising on local facebook pages.

I'd recommend talking to this agency - they've always helped us and found good candidates (and been really on it when we've needed emergency cover due to illness). You can see that £15 net ph is about par for the course in London

He wants a 'child-friendly housekeeper' or at most, a 'nanny/housekeeper'.

I didn't answer your question though! Around £15ph for full time work, more for part time, would be normal in London and the home counties.
