Confused (UC and 30 hours funded)

Hi,

I was wondering if someone could help me please.

I split from my ex last April/May so had to claim UC. I work 3 days a week and have almost 3 year old twins. Plan is to go back full time once they are in full time education.
Until now I have been getting help with childcare through UC as I have no one who can look after them whilst I work.
They currently attend nursery the 3 days I am in work.
As they are soon to be turning 3 they will be entitled to 30 hours free childcare. With my provider I am able to spread it across 52 weeks which I will need to do due to work. This will equal to 22 hours a week which is 2 days. However I need them to attend 3 days.
Does anyone know if for the third day I would be able to get the costs paid via my UC? I am unsure if I am able to use both UC and 30 hours free childcare to cover the costs?

Thanks in advance

Yes you are. You submit the reduced nursery bill just as you have submitted the full bill.

You can receive the 30 hours funded nursery and claim UC.

You cannot receive the 30 hours tax free childcare at the same time as UC and this often confuses people.

I take it you earn more than £15400 and that is why you do not have the 2 year old funding?

If they’re 3 after the 1st April I don’t think you get funding until the following September

Thank you so much (don't know how to tag sorry)

It really is confusing and there doesn't seem to be anything online explaining it.

Yes you can. Just submit the bill as you have it.
Tax free childcare and funded hours are separate

No I didn't apply for the 15 hours as I wasn't aware I could receive it aswel as UC. I've never used UC before so was confused about how it all works. Now I know I can, I will be able to apply.

Yes the are 3 after April so it wont be until September for the 30 hours.

Thanks again

Oh yes if you receive UC and earn less than £15400 you can have 15 hours free for 2 year olds. The nursery can do this, if you do it now you could get it after the Easter term.

Thank you for your help
