Wonderful Sitter Available from Smith College in US

Are you ready for time out again? Desperate for some adult-only time? Wish you had a reliable, fun, experienced person to watch your little ones while you enjoy some much deserved personal time?

Well, Mumsnet reader, look no further.

I'm a 20 year old university student from Smith College in the U.S., spending the semester enjoying beautiful London as an exchange student at SOAS. I'm living by King's Cross/St. Pancras in Islington, but willing to commute as needed. I have permission to work, a full command of English (at least the American version), and fun-loving, energetic personality perfectly suited to caring for growing kids.

I'm a terrific sitter with nine years of experience with all age groups. I love to sing silly songs, play imaginative games, and make yummy snacks. I've three years experience as a children's bookseller in Seattle, so I love reading bedtime stories, and I will happily act out all the voices.

I do it all: nappies, homework help, general play, cooking, picking up, whatever you might need.

My availability will likely be mostly in the evenings and weekends, but daytime child-minding during the week is also a possibility (depending on my uni schedule).

References are absolutely available upon request.

If you're interested, please email Julia at [email protected] and I'll set up a getting to know you meeting!

Note, if you have a Student Visa, then you are limited to working up to 20 hours per week during termtime - see Student (INF 5) UKVisas

In the UK, Childminding is a Registered profession - it is providing childcare in your own home, not the home of the child. You should therefore not advertise as a child-minder, but use the following terminology instead: Babysitter, Nanny, Mothers Help (this last one is a combination of childcare and housekeeping duties).

As you are studying in the London area, you may find advertising on Gumtree useful.

Good luck, hope you get some part-time work and do well with your studies.

Thanks for the vocabulary note, I was a little confused about the parlance.

It is true, on a student visa I am limited to 20 hours a week during the term, but due to my own studying time restraints my services would best be suited to families who need a sitter only for a few hours a week for going out or personal time anyway.

If any of you mums on these boards think that the above describes you, please send me an email! Thanks!

Do you have any availability during holiday times? I'm in the north west of England and have live-in accommodation with own bathroom.
