Would you be ok with this regarding your nanny?

Just thought back to the time I nannied for the most amazing family who used to encourage me to go the very family friendly pub once a week for lunch with the toddler and 5 yr old in the summer. The 3 of us would sit outside and then the children would play in this fabulous playground bit after we'd all had our lunch together and it was lovely quality time. Of course I would just be on soft drinks as I was the only adult present but it would while away the long summer days. We'd often be the only ones in. The kids actually couldn't wait for the pub visit day and it was the only place to go in the village. I thought it was weird at first but then enjoyed it myself! I doubt very much any other parents would insist their nanny take their kids to the pub! Would you?!

Yes (if i had a nanny)

if it was one of those family friednly ones with soft play etc then my bosses would be fine with it

in my old job there was a 'ferry' (by ferry i mean a boat that could hold 10 people max + any dogs / bikes / buggies etc) from the end of the garden to the area of land about 3 mins by boat away (or 40min drive)... this bit of land had nothing on it... except a few more GORGOUSE masive £m+ houses... and a pub and an ice cream van and lovely walks... / cylce ride to one of the best beaches on the south coast of england

a few times we would go to then end of the garden... onto the beach and call the ferry (by waving ) we would have a play over on that side of the shore and have a drink and crisps in the garden of the pub over there. (there wasnt even a shop within wlaking distance)

the children loved it and i dont mind sitting down in the sunshine by the sea etc either

I take my charges to clapham junction to watch the trains. I have to drag them home! not healthy at all but they love it (age 2 and 3)

The only soft-play area where I used to nanny was at the pub, so I was encouraged to take them there. Also got the kids used to "eating out" and encouraged nice table manners.

Sounds great. They obviously had total trust in you not to hit the booze (!) and if it was close by in the village makes perfect sense!

Yes, I would - especially if the play area was as good as you say. I think it's an integral part of a child's development to learn how to behave in environments other than those purely manufactured for children and the pub beer garden is a good introduction to being in an 'adult space'.
