Anyone there.....it's a bit dark in here

Well I'm just waiting for the sisters to arrive, ds is singing songs about wanting them here, he's desperate to see them again as no kids since the Friday before Christmas eve.

Oh, they've just pulled up. Will pop in for a cuppa in a bit.

wasnt me that was after one...what ARE they????

shoshe · 02/01/2008 15:11

The best thing since sliced bread chuck unpeeled potaotes into boil, when cooked put them in the ricer and puch through, it leaves the skin behind!

Its abit like a large garlic press.

MaureenMLove · 02/01/2008 15:13

Oh, I remember now, it was BoysAreLikeReindeer/Dogs/Ju! It's like a big garlic press that you make mash with. You cook your tatties and then instead of mashing, you push them through the ricer. No need to peel before cooking either! I had some the other day from baked potatoes and the flavour was lovely. Needed a lot of milk and butter though, because they were oven baked and not boiled in water.

ToomanynewyearsROSElutions · 02/01/2008 15:14

Oooooooooooooooohhhh, that sounds good!, how mcuh then?

nannynick · 02/01/2008 15:17

About £10.

I could do with one now, as I'm about to start making Shepherds Pie. Oh well, will have to make mash topping using a fork!

shoshe · 02/01/2008 15:18

shoshe · 02/01/2008 15:19

shoshe · 02/01/2008 15:34

My God Rosie, you have a mad house today,

It always surprises me how much a new child in changes the dynamics of the house for a while.

It will get better I promise.

MaureenMLove · 02/01/2008 15:35

No more buying of CM related stuff! I might wait for my ricer until we do the kitchen, then have a spend up on new stuff. We'll have much more space to keep things as well. Just waiting for confirmation of a mortgage offer and we'll start work! Loan was agreed on Christmas Eve, just need it in writing as an official mortgage offer now! Can't wait! The kitchen will be huge, with a lovely island unit with a bit of luck! Gonna have a proper larder too. Walk in one!

shoshe · 02/01/2008 15:49

Oh Mo we have been looking at houses in Falkrk area when we were up in Scotland, as we have no real hurry to buy and we are selling the flats in April, we can really look for our ideal one, some of the ones we looked at had fab kitchens.

ToomanynewyearsROSElutions · 02/01/2008 20:27

you're buying a flat shosh??

and all i can say is thank god today is oevr!..actually it flew, i was playing referee all day!..mindee who hit WAS sorry, the mindee he hit wasa little terror today, but he's very veyr cute and doesnt do it intentionally, he's just a babe!
told each mum about incident.new mindee had about 20 minutes and woke up crying and wanted to be carried everywhere..so god nothing done!
All we have done all day is paly!, albeit outside in garden for 1/2 hour then time for baby bottle so back in...took me longer to get them all wrapped up!

anyway, just baby and 4yr old plus dd tomorrow....mindee who hit, his mum told me he HAS been voilent lately(last week) and very cheeky, but told her shes doing good job, he IS polite/nice/helpful when with me, so he does have it in him, so shes doing it all right, he just doesnt WANT to do it when around her!..was meant to make her feel better..dont know if that did??...anyway..off for bath then arge martini!..YES on a wednesday!

shoshe · 02/01/2008 20:57

No Rosie we are selling two flats and buying a house, DH hasnt much longer in the Army so looking for a 'REAL' home

ToomanynewyearsROSElutions · 02/01/2008 20:59

ah, i didnt know that as i remember you talking about the purpose built new house the army where moving you into sometime!?..any news on that?

shoshe · 02/01/2008 21:02

No suppose to be April, its not purpose built, just totally refurbished, it will be so nice.

We bought a couple of flats a few years ago DS and DDIL own half of the two bed one, and want to buy there first house, so we are selling up in the spring, and starting to look for somewhere in Scotland that where we will eventually settle, we will rent that place out till we go there as well.

ToomanynewyearsROSElutions · 02/01/2008 21:07

Good plan..glad you're gtting sorted now!, how long does he have left in forces?
will yous till be close by to get same businesS?

Mum2Luke · 02/01/2008 21:10

I hope it snows here too (Manchester) its quite cold. Dh says he hopes it doesn't as he can't get to work and he doesn't fancy a day off when all the kids are here (spoilsport). Taking my 5 yr old ds to see Alvin and the Chipmunks - anyone seen it and if so is it any good?

We watched Spiderman 3 on dvd today, glad I didn't take mindee to the cinema, he cannot seem to sit still for any longer than a min. Don't know how he goes on at school, he's 4 1/2 yrs old.

My ds did his 5m badge today at swimming lesson, he was the only child who turned up! He got preferential treatment for once. Have ordered a Manchester City footy kit for him with one of players' names on back. Its a surprise for his birthday but if he gets his Level 2 badge in swimming, he may have it early. He's doing well at football too, pity he's not old enough for the under 7's team as he's dying to play proper games against other teams.

shoshe · 02/01/2008 21:17

Nope moving from middle of Dorset to middle of Scotland {grin]

We have two yeasr left in the Army, then he is doing 2 yeasr with the guard service till DGD is 16, then we are off.

BUT it wont matter anout my business as I have made the decision to retire from CMing in September 2010.

Three of my mindees that I have now have recently had there parents Army posting here extended till then, so will see tham thru then thats it finished.

MaureenMLove · 02/01/2008 21:20

What are you going to do with yourself after CMing?

shoshe · 02/01/2008 21:27

Not sure it will depend on health alot, but have thought of going to work for >>>>

Ofsted...............................

or maybe as a outreach worker for the children centre, I have already been approached for ajob working with under aged mums, something like that that I can put my last 30 years to some use.

MaureenMLove · 02/01/2008 21:33

Noooooooo! I knew you were going to say that! Shame you'll be in Scotland, think of all the Outstandings we could get with you at the helm!

That sounds like a lovely job, working with young mums. Very rewarding I would think.

shoshe · 02/01/2008 21:40

Well I am hoping to do two years in England then move to the Care commission, but must admit would like to do the outreach, i have done it before, shadowing a HV, going into remote rural places, taking toy libraries to them, helping with non English speakers, would love that sort of thing again.

But would probably only wnt part time, will be over 50 by then and time to slow down a bit, we wont need me to work full time, and as have always worked (spent 18 yeasr as a single parent) it would be nice to take things a bit easier.
