I am a nanny for a child aged 2. I have level 3 first aid training, Insurance and an up to date DBS subscription.

I am thinking about completing common core skills to become ofsted registered, what does it mean once I am ofsted registered?
Do I have to send them monthly reports?
What paperwork will I need?

There isn't any fire safety policy's in place etc as I go to the parents home.

It means Ofsted can inspect you - they check up on 10% of those registered each year. Ofsted checks that you know local Safeguarding procedures, check you have insurance, first aid. You should have a contract of employment. You do not need to have procedures documents (though some Ofsted inspectors need reminding about this frequently, Ofsted has promised they will remind them... but it keeps happening, maybe this year 2022 will be the year that all inspections are done correctly.)

It is not like an inspection of a childminder or nursery... it takes about 30 minutes, not hours.

It means that parents can pay you using Tax Free Childcare scheme.

Thank you for helping me. As well as contract, insurance, qualification and DBS, what else do I need and what do I need to do once I'm ofsted registered

Getting registered was easy.. I was inspected earlier this year.. Had to provide work family details, ages of children, hours etc...all certificates, insurance, first aid, core skills etc emailed to inspector before hand.. Inspection done over phone. I was a bit anxious but overall it was fairly imformal.. I googled/asked on here what sort of thing would be asked and made notes to refer to..
Being Ofsted registered is something parents benefit from so they should pay the £103 a year fee... Mine always have.. More and more parents are asking for registration... Good luck..

Oh.. And you don't have to do anything once you're registered except pay the fee when due... They require a first aid certificate every 3 years but we should be doing that anyway regardless of registration...
