Last week mindee{am thinking of diff name}
empitied all the duplo and duplo track all over the floor just before his mum arrived.

Do you tidy up before parent arrives to collect or afterwards?

If they come in with a mess do they think child had fun or do they prefer to see tidy room with just a few toys?

I am trying to encourage him to help with tidying up.

Our whole sitting room is given over to toys {OFSTED said she rarely saw so many}.

They are all in plastic boxes colour coded to make finding the toys easy,

ie duplo {people and animals and cars} in blue box,
track in grey box,
duplo bricks in green box,
books in yellow basket.

What do you do near end of day?

Seriously tho' as each child goes home the playroom gets a bit tidier and when last one goes home DD finishes off.....DH is also a compulsive tidier....he frequently tidies up the kids while they are playing

It all depends on the overall impression - whether it is constructive looking mess or whether it just looks like a bomb has landed.
I am always very aware that the impression of me and my home that sticks is the short one at collecting and dropping off times and a bit of organised mess - if there is such a thing! - is nice to see. I often wish I had a webcam spy system so parents could see the full day's picture for themselves but have you seen the cost of them

I really like it when a mum comes early and catches us doing a jigsaw or playing with the farm - it really reassures them.

Some C/Mers I know don't let parents in but as they walk up the path they can see us and what we have been/are doing.

i encourage parents to just drop in - if they can. It really reassures them

Yes I agree organised mess is good but we had everything out all at once

When the grandmother collects I meet her at the door as if she comes in I would never get her out again.

Even though I have to leave to collect DS from school or take him swimming etc.

His mum comes into sitting room and he usually shows her what he has been playing with.eg. like what he has been cooking with the play food nand kitchen.
