Printed Sweatshirts - T-Shirts etc.

Can anyone recommend a supplier for Sweatshirts and T-Shirts, who can screen print or heat print design on to front and rear. Low minimum order (this is the tricky thing to find), as I only want maybe 6.

My past workwear has been embroidered, but embroidery is only really suitable for very small designs, thus I'm looking at Screen Print and Heat Print (this is like cut vinyl).

Any suggestions most welcome.
Any mumsnetters do this as a small business?

I want to avoid transfers, done that in the past. Ok on white, but not so good on Navy Blue shirts.

workwear? Am now puzzled as to what you might wear to work?

nannynick · 20/12/2007 15:26

What I wear?

Sweatshirt, Polo Shirt, smart trousers
Fleece when v.cold.

Current Sweatshirts and Polo Shirts have embroidered logo/lettering.

Nick might have found a supplier who would be willing to do batches of 6. A friend came in to drop a card off and was telling me her parents had just bought a embroidery machine and are thinking of doing small numbers of embroidered logos. Will keep you informed as I find out more.

nannynick · 20/12/2007 15:37

Thanks, though I'm not looking at embroidery really, as that is only suitable for small designs - have that on current workwear.

Currently having discussions with www.Clothes2Order.com who can do Cad Cut and will do low quantity, even 1 off's. Need to establish what can, and can't be done using Cad Cut. May need to opt for screen print, which I've done in the past for Playgroup. Screen print is Ok, but the new cut vinyl can be cheaper, as very low setup cost.

I get a lot of people we meet while out, calling me Daddy. Thus I am trying to find ways of making it more clear that I am not Daddy... I'm their carer.

Did consider having a t-shirt saying:

I'm Not Daddy... I'm The Nanny

But I don't think the wording is that good!

Why not its good and to the point.

GloriaInEleusis · 20/12/2007 16:01

This is very cleverPR, Nick. I'm impressed! (Although it does remind me a tad of sorority days)

Thanks... I think - What are "sorority days"?

Some nannies / childminder / carers have uniforms, while other's don't. Personally I prefer having a uniform - I don't need to worry about what to wear each day. The children also have the consistency of knowing what I will be wearing - as I work with children with Special Needs, this can help. Though I'm changing the colour of my tops, from Red to Blue, following comments from parents of autistic children, who say that Red can be a trigger, though I've not had any issues with my red tops causing the children to have any more meltdowns than usual.

Yep... I'm Manny Nick

Proposed design has been uploaded to my profile photos.

Any suggestions for slogans for the front... not sure my I'm Not Daddy... I'm The Nanny is all that good, especially as I'm not always nanny.

Perhaps I could have:

I'm Not Daddy...

Who Am I? See Back

Surreynanny · 22/12/2007 21:51

Hi Nick I'm not very far from you and know someone in Weybridge who does large embroidery designs (they did the back of a jacket for me with the surreynanny.com ad.) She is away for Christmas back new year if that is any help to you.

Ubergeekian · 22/12/2007 23:45

Many places (I have used Bar-One in Glasgow) will do small runs for screen printing. It's just expensive, that's all. I used to pay - it's been a few years - £25 to have a screen made (which they then kept in store for years), around £10 to set up the screen for each run and then wholesale for the garments plus 20p per print.
