Hi guys has anyone here by any chance taken their covid vaccine during pregnancy. So I’m first trimester and I have been contemplating taking the vaccine? Just worried that it might affect the baby? But pls share your experiences thanks

Repost in the coronavirus section. You'll find a few people there that have had the injection during pregnancy

Landof · 17/12/2021 20:56

Is this your booster? I'm assuming booster as you're in your first trimester?

Jenitha · 17/12/2021 23:16

Thanks will read through the coronavirus section

Jenitha · 17/12/2021 23:17

hi landoff No this is not for the booster its for the actual vaccine. Unlike most people im one of the few that is yet to take the first and sec dose

EdgeOfACoin · 21/12/2021 09:01

I had the first and second jabs during pregnancy and was fine. Baby is two months old and is also fine.

Pfizer and Moderna have been given to pregnant women in the US since January this year. In fact, pregnant women were prioritised for the vaccine over there. The UK was originally more cautious in its approach but now the Royal College of Gynaecologists and Obstetricians actively recommends pregnant women get the vaccine.

Catching Covid while pregnant on the other hand can be dangerous and can put both the life of mother and child at risk. You have a compromised immune system when pregnant, and your bodily organs (including your lungs) can get a bit squished/displaced when making room for the baby. This makes you more vulnerable to Covid than if you were not pregnant.

The decision is yours, but for me the known risk of catching Covid while pregnant far outweighed any concerns I had about taking the vaccine.

It’s completely safe and the best thing you can do to protect you and your baby. You are at higher risk from Covid than most because of your pregnancy. The govt has recognised this and pregnant women are now a priority group for the booster.

Get the vaccine.

I had my second and booster during pregnancy, in first and second trimester. Although it’s not tested in the traditional sense, it’s rare to find anything that’s safely tested in pregnant women because it’s unethical. However over 180,000 women in US and 60,000 women in the UK have had it with no side effects. In contrast, there are a significant number of unvaccinated pregnant women in ITU with covid and who’ve had EMCS when intubated.

TheOpportuneMoment · 21/12/2021 09:15

Yes I've had the first, second and booster jabs while pregnant. This infographic produced by Pregnant and Screwed and Mmbrace-UK gives some pretty compelling stats.

I had both of mine and I'm now 26 weeks. I waited until the second trimester but with no evidence that that makes a difference. You should definitely get your vaccine before you get to the third trimester. We know how dangerous covid is for pregnant women. You could end up in icu and risks of still born or yourself dying leaving your child without a mother.

Chocoqueen · 21/12/2021 09:30

I had both of mine (pfizer) in pregnancy, can't remember the weeks exactly but was towards the end of my second and third trimesters. DD is now a bouncing, smiley, gorgeous 4 month old 😍

Jenitha · 22/12/2021 21:12

Thank you all so much for your encouragement. I will definitely go and book. It’s encouraging to see other women who have had it during pregnancy and are completely fine. Thank you all

Chips1 · 27/05/2022 16:21

My niece had her 2nd vaccine while pregnant. She is now 20 gestation on her sonogram revealed that her baby has a cleft pallet. Such devastating news, as infant will need surgery immediately after birth. Wondering if this was attributed to vaccine. No family history of any kind of deformities. So sad as baby will be unable to suckle. Has anyone heard of physical deformities post vaccine?

underneaththeash · 27/05/2022 16:44

OP - you’ve posted in childcare!

ElspethBoomingHowsen · 27/05/2022 16:46

Midwife here. Please get vaccinated.

Maybe you should link to info rather than pronouncing doom and gloom

PAFMO · 27/05/2022 16:59

Millions of pregnant women have had the vaccine during pregnancy because pregnant women are considered an at risk category.
Ignore the mad anti Vax troll.

ReadtheFT · 27/05/2022 17:11

There was one lady in my month due thread that ended up in hospital with immune issues following the vaccine.
I caught Covid in the eighth month of pregnancy, completely unvaccinated, and was completely fine.
Different story if you have other issues as high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity and so on.

Link?

I was vaccinated with pfizer during pregnancy (as were numerous friends of mine) all our babies are fine

loulouljh · 27/05/2022 21:32

Mad unvaccinated troll?! Wake up people. The pfizer trial results have been released over the last few months and make for sobering reading. Google it and you will find it. And stop throwing insults please. Just because you don't like what someone says it is not necessary to be rude.

dementedpixie · 27/05/2022 21:35

You link it, I'm not googling it

dementedpixie · 27/05/2022 21:35

Less of the 'wake up people' crap too

Hiddenvoice · 27/05/2022 21:51

I had AstraZeneca and then a Pfizer booster and was completely fine. After my first vaccine I felt a little unwell for a night but woke up fine next morning. My baby was perfect throughout pregnancy and born via c section at 39 weeks. She has no problems. I then caught covid 3 weeks pp due to family members not realising. Myself, my dh and my baby are were positive and thankfully recovered quickly with my baby showing no symptoms.

I'll link to a reputable source:
www.uchicagomedicine.org/forefront/coronavirus-disease-covid-19/mrna-covid-19-vaccine-pregnancy-breastfeeding

Relevant passage here:

"Have the COVID-19 vaccines been tested in pregnant or breastfeeding people?
Pregnant people were not specifically included in the clinical trials; this is due to historical restrictions on including those who are pregnant in clinical trials. Moderna, Pfizer-BioNTech, and Johnson & Johnson have conducted DART studies in animal models to determine if there are any negative side effects of the COVID-19 vaccine in pregnancy; these studies are frequently used to make determinations about what medical treatments should be offered to pregnant people in the absence of human clinical trial data. The results so far have found no adverse effects of a standard mRNA vaccine dose on female reproduction, fetal development or postnatal development.

The CDC has been collecting additional monitoring data through their smartphone app, V-safe, and other monitoring systems to solicit reports of side effects following vaccination. The CDC has analyzed this data and found there were no safety concerns for pregnant people or their babies who were vaccinated during late pregnancy.Additional data looking at outcomes in nearly 2,500 pregnant people who received an mRNA COVID-19 vaccine before 20 weeks of pregnancy found no increase in the risk of miscarriage The miscarriage rates for individuals after receiving the COVID-19 vaccine were around 13%, similar to the expected miscarriage rate in the general population."

There are also numerous fact checking sites debunking the claims made by sicko anti Vax individuals and groups about the Pfizer vaccine causing untold damage to pregnant women and their unborn babies.

@loulouljh That's what I found on Google. Want to show us yours?
