What to get nanny for christmas?

Hi there,

Our nanny started in September, so this is the first Christmas. She's lovely, so I want toget her a nice present to show out appreciation. Would love some ideas! At doesn't drink, so bubbly is out of the question. She told me after she went to a hen do that she doesn't like spa days. Chocolate seems rather stingy compared to what I'd like... any suggestions?

I get two week’s wages in cash.

But I realise that’s not necessarily the norm for everyone.

In my previous job I got vouchers first Westfield shopping centre, and a token something from the children- a lovely pair of gloves, a bottle of clarins body lotion sort of thing.

It’s not exciting for you necessarily but vouchers/cash are very much appreciated.

Vouchers or cash bonus

Cash!

Maryann1975 · 06/12/2021 13:44

A cash bonus is preferable, especially if you don’t know her that well (you say she only started recently). If you know a favourite restaurant, maybe a voucher for there, but this Christmas I am more wary of vouchers as everything feels so unpredictable at the moment.

SSOYS · 06/12/2021 13:47

1-2 weeks' Christmas bonus.

Sprig1 · 06/12/2021 13:55

Cash (and chocolates/flowers/something the kids have made, if you want something to handbover).

The most common thing I get from all families is a £50 voucher for somewhere (ikea, b and q when I was renovating, John Lewis, a local spa)
My first ever nanny family used to give me £100 in a card, this was nearly 10 years ago. But some families give homemade yummy treats, bath stuff etc.. anything is appreciated. I don't expect money.

We always gave cash. Two weeks worth of wages is standard amongst nannies where we are - but it’s expensive on top of a big childcare bill, at a very expensive time of year.

Cash or vouchers (ones that can be used in a number of places or Amazon).

And a small token from the children.

Cash
Gift cards

50ShadesOfCatholic · 07/12/2021 10:14

Cash or an extra week off. Or a voucher to John Lewis so she can choose something lovely for herself.

squee123 · 07/12/2021 10:19

I'm doing £250 in cash plus a little hamper of stuff I know she'll like - vegan chocolate, posh peanut butter (running joke that she loves peanut butter), some cat socks (likes fun socks, loves cats) and whatever else that occurs to me in time.
