What does a Norland Nanny bring that others don’t?

Or other very highly trained, highly experienced nannies? I’m interested in this as a childcare option on return to work now I have 2 DC. But friends nannies haven’t really impressed me so far TBH and seem to be a lot of hassle for the parents.

I’ve heard a lot of good things about Norland Nannies. I suppose I’m interested in what the difference is? (Or anything similar, I only know of NN but sure there are other well regarded colleges)

What is it about their training that sets them apart? I suppose what I’d really like is a real life Mary Poppins 😁 but failing that if there is a reliable system like this where you are guaranteed a certain level of quality and proficiency that could be worth looking in to

There's a difference between doing the occasional errand when out with the children (which is clearly absolutely fine) and making personal errands the focus of the day, i.e. spending the whole afternoon having a look around the shops/in a coffee-shop. It also depends on the age of the child, to some degree. There is minimal value in a baby/young toddler spending the majority of their day strapped in a buggy being wheeled around the shops or on other errands. They need to be out moving and exploring.

For older toddlers/preschoolers who are not in buggies, there may be more value in the trip as they can be taught not to run around and to behave nicely. They can also be helpful in finding things and scanning things when shopping. But we as parents do all these things with our DC at the weekend anyway - take them to shops, take them out to restaurants/cafes, run errands - so I wouldn't see the need for my DC to spend hours doing these things during the week as opposed to actively playing and learning.
