Hi just that really. If a nanny or babysitter is offstead registered would i get help to cover the cost of childcare? I currently receive help towards nursery fees but does nannying and babysitting count too as lon as ofsted registered as i would only need it for 3 hours a week but im aware the prices significantly increase so would need help towards it.

Yes you might. It will depend on your circumstances.

Tax Free Childcare scheme can be used to pay an Ofsted registered nanny/babysitter. As a temp nanny I have had several families use the scheme to pay me.

There are however some things to consider if you are having someone care for your children at your home on a regular basis. If you have someone come for the same hours, each week, then you are likely their employer and will have a duty to have a PAYE scheme.

If it is ad-hoc/occasional work then it is likely not going to be an employer:employee relationship, as mutuality of obligation may not exist - you don't have to provide the work and they don't have to do the work.

If it's via the UC childcare help, they must be registered with ofsted and you have to provide proof of payment. Receipt/invoice from them.
If it is via UC, maybe ask via the journal as it's not clear on the UC help pages.
