Should I keep my son home from nursery?

Please don't judge me but I'm in two minds as to what to do. My son started nursery 3 weeks ago. Hes been ill ever since. First a cold but it seems to have turned into a chest infection which he has started antibiotics for yesterday. I kept him home yesterday. He is eating and drinking as normal . He did have a temp overnight and now but seems to be controlled by calpol and nurofen. Obviously has a cough. Tested clear for covid . He really wants to go to nursery but I'm not sure what the right thing is. I've been up all night with my other son so just need some other mums views to clear my head.

If he had a temperature last night I don’t think you can send him in this morning - sorry he’s still not well enough…

If he needs calpol I don't think he will be allowed back yet

Ok that's fine will keep him home. I hate this time of year! Thanks

I usually worked on 'one day normal' for temp before sending them back, so if they were off with a temp on Weds, then they were off on Thurs, and back on Fri.

Obviously some judgement involved, but for me I felt better knowing they were properly better.

Nursery won't give the antibiotics in the first 48 hours as a general rule... and yes need to give time to check temperature fully gone away

Thanks everyone. Im so glad I kept him home. Going to keep him home the rest of the week too. Poor thing seems worse and is in bed. I'll never doubt myself again!

On a side note how long for antibiotics to work before checking back with the doctor??
