Do you think I need to put that a child was taken by mum to A&E this morning

In my accident book, he had a raging temperature, has been off all week with a strep throat and virus, came in but had to send for Mum within a few hours.

I just feel that as they have kept him in that maybe I should put it in my book. No place to put it really apart from Concerns page, thought I would put it there stating at the top it was not a concern, but a account of what happened.

I would note it down as you have stated giving the history towards this event.

In all my years in Childcare never had one taken straight from me to Hospital, so thought I should put it somewhere

Best to make a note of it, perhaps with a note of events prior (such as being off from x date with strep throat).
It may never see the light of day again, but just in case anything reoccurs, or for any other matter, the notes will with luck trigger your memory of the events.

Ive put it in my diary Nick and in the childs daily Diary that the parents take home.

And have written a complete report about what actually happened, poor little love was so ill.

Spoken to mum, who has said the have changed his AB's and put him on a drip.

Just thought after the Keran Henderson case recently I wanted everything put down in black and white.

If you took to a&e I would put it on an accident form (even if its an illness not an accident, its the most appropriate form I have). If parent took to a&e I would put it on an existing injury form, so its recorded that the parent took to a&e and why - with the parent's signature.

Whether you use forms or your diary, I would ask parents to sign as an accurate record of the situation, just in case you ever have to refer to it in the future.

It was sensible to put it in your diary as well as the childs. The child's diary could be lost or you may let the parents keep it when its full or the child leaves.
