Au pair to nanny, could I get some opinions?

My daughter (graduate, early 20s) is currently au pairing in Europe. She has really taken to it, does babysitting in down time and is in high demand. When her contact finishes next year, she is considering signing up to nanny in this country, maybe in London. But she hasn’t any childcare qualifications. If you were looking to employ a nanny, would a young woman in her position be an attractive candidate? She’s just thinking of how she can improve her employability.

There are plenty of options for childcare qualifications, some that she could study for from a home placement I believe.

Many nannies don't have extensive qualifications, but do have experience and strong references. So I would focus on extracting references from current employers and would then initially market herself as a nanny for similar age groups - understandably if your references are for being great with school aged DC, people are going to be reluctant to punt on giving you sole care of a young baby.

Ofsted registration is a real benefit in the UK and requires a child first aid certificate and some basic quals in childcare she can do online, as I recall. Getting the prereqs for Ofsted registration would give her a good base and also mean potential employers can use their childcare vouchers/tax free childcare towards her salary.
