Unless the after schooler was over 8 then i think that is ok? Someone else will ocme along to check that? At the moment i still count my 2 8 yr olds in with numbers because i'm not full.

KiddieCare · 21/11/2007 20:05

type your area in here and see what others are charging, im nowhere near you so my prices are no good hth

Ok if it says 3 then that's ok, does it say what ages?

Like mine says no more than 4 under 8 of these no more than 2 shouldm be under 5 and no more than 1 under 1

Katymac · 21/11/2007 20:12

Can you link to your certificate on the OFSTED site?

KiddieCare · 21/11/2007 20:39

my cert says; may care for no more than 3 children under 8 years; of these, not more than 1 may be under 1 year at any time.
so does that mean i can look after 3 and my son, or does that include my son? at my registration interview they told me he wudnt count as he was at school full time, but i looked on the ofsted site and it says numbers on cert include cm own children, if this is the case i am not to pleased about it.

I think that means no under 5's - that is really odd, I'v never seen one with no under 5's

Your son is 5, so I would have assumed 5 under 8 of which 3 under 5 & 1 under 1 (if that makes sense)

Katymac · 21/11/2007 20:47

Unless they have changed the way they do certs?

smeeinachristmastreeinnit · 21/11/2007 20:55

kiddicare, why have they only allowed you 3 under 8s? never hard of that before.
most are 3 0-5s with only one being under 1 and 3 5-8s.
that is obviously having to include your own kiddies in them numbers.

LoveMyGirls · 21/11/2007 20:56

My cert doesnt inc my own children.

I think it means a total of 3 mindees under 8 so you could have a 1 yr old a 2yr old and a 3 yr old as well as your son.

Why have they only said you cna mind 3? Most cm's have 5 (if their own child is 5)

Katymac · 21/11/2007 20:59

But it implies no under 5's doesn't it? Or am I confused?

smeeinachristmastreeinnit · 21/11/2007 20:59

no i didnt mean your cert would have your own kiddies on. just that the standard is 6 under 8s including your own.................god im confusing myself?!!!!

Katymac · 21/11/2007 21:02

It would be 6 under 8 minus you children

So if you have 1 child it would show 5 under 8
So if you have 2 child it would show 4 under 8 So if you have 3 child it would show 3 under 8

& so on

LoveMyGirls · 21/11/2007 21:06

Well she can have any ages from 0 to 8 so can't see how they could put it other than how they have.....

if they put...
may care for no more than 0 under 8
may care for no more than 3 under 5

It would be silly because she can care for either 2 under 5 and 1 over 5 and her own or 3 under 5 plus her own, so they have put it so it includes all age ranges. dyswim? I'm getting confused now!

KiddieCare · 21/11/2007 21:07

i think im confusing everyone, my cert means i can only look afer 3 at one time that are under 8, so LoveMyGirl your right, it can be any ages under 8, i jus wanted to no if the number 3stated on my cert included ny son or not, i dont see y it wud tho!
my inspector told me i could opt for an increase in the number of children i am registered for once i feel more confortable that i can handle more.

OP posts:
LoveMyGirls · 21/11/2007 21:07

if they had put may care for no more than 3 under 5 or 3 over 5 it would be confusing. the list of ages she could have could go on and on for all the dif combinations because she can only care for 3 in total and they could all be under 5 or non under 5 or a mixture of both - god is this getting any clearer?

Katymac · 21/11/2007 21:08

Maybe - I might be being a bit slow - but that makes sense (I think)

So no 5-8's because that would lose a place unless she has a P/T finishing in time (but even then what about school hols?)

Tricky

LoveMyGirls · 21/11/2007 21:09

Basically shes going to be better off sticking to under 5's but sometimes you gotta take what you can get havent you.

KiddieCare · 21/11/2007 21:11

ok so av we come to the conclusion that i can have 3 full timers and my son? hope so

OP posts:
Katymac · 21/11/2007 21:18

Yeah I think so - but do not discount P/ters adding up to F/T (eg 2 days + 2 days + 1 day)

LoveMyGirls · 21/11/2007 21:19

(in the words of my 2yr old) "yeh i fink so"

But you could also have 2 part timers (that share 1 space) and 2 ft'ers which is prob more likely, ft'ers are hard to come by these days as mothers like to do a bit of both (things may be different in london i dont know) also having 3 ft'ers means you have all your eggs in 3 baskets where you could have eggs in 4 or more with pt'ers iyswim? Anyway will stop confusing you and make an effort to clean my house so i can truely relax!

KiddieCare · 21/11/2007 21:23

Thankyou all soooooooo much, ill prob be back on ere soon with another prob, so watch this space lol x

Sorry we confused you

LMG - snap

LoveMyGirls · 21/11/2007 21:30

KM - do you think we spend too much time with the kids lol!

I'm really enjoying the job at the moment actually, kids are behaving, mostly, i'm not on great money but it will come eventually and i'm on an advertising campaign at the moment which always makes me feel better because i feel i'm doing something about our future! I love the warm feeling knowing I am earning my own living! (don't like it when its not going so well and I feel I'm sinking but its up and down so just enjoying the highs!)
