Hello

I asked about this recently but I have another couple of questions:

Did you write to OFSTED in advance of the birthday/starting school so that you could take on new business?

If so, how far in advance did you notify them?

How long did it take them to respond?

When did you get your new certificate?

I'm in a bit of a pickle......have ds starting full time school on 14th Jan so told double pay baby's mum she can do the extra days she wants from then. Also have a new baby due to start then. I honestly thought it was a case of he starts school so classed as an over 5 and no probs, will get a new cert to be on display showing that with effect of that date.

I've just called them to ask how long until I hear back from my letter to them and the lady told me the system is showing as 'pending til Jan 08'. I said I understand the certificate not being issued to near the time but I expected to have confirmation of if this will happen prior to that so I can confirm to parents. She's sending a memo to the inspection support team.

So, I know I'm stupid and shouldn't have presumed I could take new business until they'd confirmed - I've learnt my lesson there

So, what was the procedure that was followed when you wrote in?

TIA

I was told I couldn't apply for my new certificate until DD was at school (only just remembered sorry)

They definatley won't send a new certificate before the date

Silly OFSTED

I can understand the certificate not being issued but WTF....they wouldn't let you APPLY???? They are truly CRAZY aren't they - a lot of things they do just don't make sense!!!

Two different hymn sheets yet again! I wrote to Ofsted in early August 06 to tell them my dd was starting full-time school towards end of Sept, exact date unknown (school do mornings then add lunches to get them in gradually). So I was mightly surprised when by the end of August they sent my new cert....

My current cert says 4, I only have one dd so I know I could increase to 5 but didn't see a lot of point as am pregnant, due March 08, but a couple of times this term I had to say no to set of twins for 8am-9am as already had 2 sisters booked for school/playgroup run in plus another schoolie (all under 8) so I thought I might as well ask the question....I wrote to them mid-sept. Chased by email twice, told them situation may arise on 5 Nov...still nothing....fortunately didn't happen on 5 Nov as dd had sickness bug so I was closed anyway! So are Ofsted on a go-slow?? Or are they being more picky? When I asked for a variation 6 months ater I started (variation was for an extra child for 3 hours on a one-off afternoon only) they phoned me and asked loads of questions as if I'd asked to take them to the moon!! By the time they get round to sending my cert for 5 children I'll be writing to tell them about my new arrival!

PS Love the christmas name LT!

You see - that's what pisses me off about them!!! Why can't they be f*ing consistant????!!!!

Glad you like the name - couldn't think of anything else!

My dd started full time school in October. I wrote in August, telling them the date and asking for a new certificate. Didnt hear anything for ages, so i called them to chase it.
For some reason, they treated the call as a new enquiry, and phoned me back to refuse, saying I couldnt have 4 under 5s. I explained that i only wanted it to be 3 under 5, but this took them ages to understand.
eventually they agreed, but were very confusd that i have written and followed it up with a call. They had accepted my first variation, but just not bothered to tell me.

I phoned last week about this as my DD turned 8 last month. Ofsted told me to write to them just informing that she's now turned 8, include DOB and request that a new cert to be issued and this should be done pretty much immediately.
