Nervous about nursery

Will my twin toddlers (3 years old) be ok going to nursery for 8 hours 2 times per week? They're used to playgroup but that's 2.5 hours in the morning 3 days a week and a full day of gps. So they are used to being away from me for a day.

I don't know why I'm so worried! I think it's because it's a new setting and I'm going to be working more hours as we're now entitled to the 30 hours free childcare.

Anyone else ever feel like this about nursery? Is it good for them? The reasons why I've decided to work more hours is because obviously the money but also because parent and toddler classes are shut and we also can't do anything at the moment. Things are opening up but not very fast.

I've chewed all my nails off 🙈

They will be fine - they will learn new things, make new friends, and enjoy their first independence.

You will hate it - not knowing all the details of their day, not knowing exactly how they've filled their time, the enormous mum guilt you'll feel that there not with you.

I really believe the time my kids have been at nursery has been entirely for their benefit.

My twins went to nursery at 15months and loved it! They started doing 1.5 days but now (preschool) are up to 3 days.
They have each other too for reassurance.
They come home singing new songs, muddy, glittery... it’s brilliant!

They wll be fine. I worked as a nursery assistant across a number of nurseries and honestly, children do completely fine. Even the ones who might start off unsettled (which is to be expected), start to thrive. They learn social skills, day structure, start to learn child to child play and interactions etc. I've never seen a child never not adapt, ever.

I'm sure they will be fine. Perhaps you can take them for a taster first.

They loved it and asked if they can go back 😂🙈
