When to start advertising

Hi all,

For the first time in I think 11 years I will be in the position where my nanny jobs will end at the same time due to the youngest ones starting school.

Nanny jobs are pretty scarce here. My last few jobs have been sourced by word of mouth/friends of friends.

Due to the last year iv not been around toddler groups, no library or swimming lessons available, restricted nursery drop off etc so my presence isn’t known and I’m also not aware of any potential families around the area which I’m worried will make it harder to find work.

How soon would you start advertising? Feel like there are lots of pros and cons as to whether that’s now or in a few months time.

Also have people found it easier of harder to find jobs this last year with changes to employment/lockdowns etc?

Thanks

I would start looking and advertising ASAP! I’m
Based in London been Job hunting with no luck for months. I’m not sure where you are based but the job market is extremely tough. I’m hopefully as the end is in sight there will be more normality with parents going back to the office etc. I’ve been a nanny for around 12 years, I’ve been looking on and off since last summer and probably only had about 4 interviews as there’s so much competition due to so many unemployed nannies.

Oh jeeze that was my worry that not many jobs available
I’m in Scotland (in a town rather than city) which doesn’t bode well if it’s a struggle for you in London. Eeek.

Sounds like this weekend may be updating cv time and getting my advert ready.

It’s been so long since iv had to look for work and first time where I will be completely unemployed so it’s a bit scary.

Thank you!

If all are finishing at same time may be a good time to find one family to work for

What jobs do you do now

But def not too early to look

I am hoping to perhaps find one family for four days a week. Would be a nice change to only have one family.
But I’m open to five days or a split if that’s what’s available.

Currently do a nanny share two days and another family for three days.

I’m in middle of updating cv ready before I advertise

Thanks
