Part Time Nanny

Hi
Due to demands at work, I have decided to employ a part time nanny for wraparound care instead of a childminder first my 7 year old.

I have found a suitable lady and we are sorting her first aid and DBS. I intend to use one of the nanny accounting companies - any recommendations?

We plan to start after Christmas as she needs to give notice. She wants something in writing. Do I need a contract now to start in the new year, or an offer letter?

NannyPaye or PayeForNannies. I've had employers use those before and currently.

Check your home contents insurance policy to confirm you have Employers Liability Insurance. It is typically included with your home contents policy or can be easily added. If you don't have it, then it can cost around £100 a year so best to check if you already have got it.

Doing a contract now would be great, the payroll companies can assist you with that and it can have the start date for the first day of work. Turn around time for a contract may be a week or two depending how busy the legal team/person is.

For now a job offer email or letter will suffice giving basic details: Days and hours of work, gross wage per hour/or per month/or per year. Be clear about if work is all year round or term time only (with exact dates to be discussed as they will vary year to year). If you do not permit them taking holiday during term time then write that in the offer letter.
