Nanny of child is isolating?

In the eventuality that one of my children is sent home from school/nursery for 14 days because there is a covid case in their bubble am I allowed to use a nanny to look after them? I’m a single parent and don’t know how I’d manage to work. It seems likely it’s going to happen over this winter...

You'd need to take time off work. Why would you risk a nanny getting ill rather than yourself?

That would put risk on the nanny so you are unlikely to find a nanny who would work under that situation. As an employer of a nanny you have a duty of care towards your employee which means that you minimise their risk of getting the virus from someone in your household.

Is it legally allowed... yes I think it is but it would not be if your child developed a symptom.

If the nanny already works for you, so has already been in contact with the child on a regular basis at close contact, then I think the situation is a little bit different. As a nanny in that situation I continued to work as the risk to me was no greater than it was the previous day. Due to the incubation period involved the child I care for could already have been virus positive. Each situation needs to be risk assessed and the individuals concerned need to consider the risk.

Did you work in lockdown

Who had kids

Can you work from home now

School age kids usually get given some school work to do when self isolating

So as tricky as it will be many people will be in the same boat

Some nannies may work. I wouldn’t for a family I didn’t work for who ‘may’ be infectious with c
