got one mindee arriving 6.15AM in the morning until 10.00PM tomorrow night(same the day after too!!!>, then one more 7.30, go pick my mum up and get money out for plasterer and alarm guy, they arrive 8-8.30, take all my hard earned money off me and hopefull do a good job, supply tea and nice food to mum all day for sitting in while work being done....pick up one mindee 11.15, feed and water, then pick up dd and 3 others after school until 4pm, 5pm and 5.30pm...cant bath dd or mindee as water will have to be off all day, then get dd and mindee dressed for bed after flannel wash and put dd to bed 7.30 then amuse/ try to calm mindee down until 10pm when collecting..........two full days of this, then 3 weeks of it week after next.., im sooo tired already, i will seriously see how this go's and MAY have to speak to mum about change of contract as these hours will kill me on top of normal week with other mindees!

im off to iron weeks worth of clothes for me and dd now and am ordering a kebab!
have been shopping with dp and dd today then park and museum with dp, dd and sil, bil and niece, my feet are killing and i just want to go to bed.......8-)

stealthsquiggle · 15/10/2007 13:23

Sorry Ladies, I got distracted by RL - latest cake is now public (for a while!)

stealthsquiggle · 15/10/2007 13:25

And yes, Mo, that was the spherical one - quite easy once the lady in the cake shop told me not to try and cook it as a sphere (you can't tell when it is cooked, and you have to cut it to put some buttercream in anyway) so it was cooked in 2 halves, IYSWIM.

mumlove · 15/10/2007 13:29

Good day to you all, just found time to sit down and grab some lunch while 2 mindees are asleep and 1 is playing.
I have had some emergency mindees for a few weeks now and they are staying until xmas, so I am very busy with my maximum amount of mindees 3 days a week. Will be glad when it's over, but thinking of the extra money for xmas . Off to put the kettle on.

mumlove · 15/10/2007 13:32

WOW the cake is lovely, I cannot cook at all. You all work hard on them.

SpooKAYsamuels · 15/10/2007 13:49

Hi everyone!

Earthymama · 15/10/2007 14:13

DMO - thats so awful, your sister is so lucky to have you supporting her!

Stealth - Cake is fab!

EM - will pop and look now.

Earthymama · 15/10/2007 14:32

dmo, sending blessings to your family, you must be distraught. The love and care ofyour family will help the little one and thankfully NHS is brilliant in a crisis, IME.

dmo · 15/10/2007 14:35

cant fault the nhs they have been super
niece has her own nurse who cant leave her bedside and the nurse is so lovely

MaureenMLove · 15/10/2007 15:33

I just freaked out a grandma who came to collect mindee! I've only met her once or twice, so don't have a lot of chat, but I said mindee had had a lovely day doing this, that and the other. Then I said to mindee 'and who's lunch did you eat apart from yours?' And of course she said 'Eeyore's!' So me and mindee were laughing and smiling etc, perfectly normal to share Eeyores lunch, isn't it? Expect that Grandma doesn't know that we all call DH Eeyore and she thought it a little odd that I was praising mindee for eating the cats food! Ooops!

Earthymama · 15/10/2007 15:43

I know how you feel, you can see them thinking, are they safe to mind my precious DGC!! Things all families do, like silly names and sayings, get exposed to the gaze of strangers and seem, well, daft!!

I'll say things like 'oh, you fell on your Billy Bumblebee!!', give the kids names ie Ben was Benjamino and when one of the other mindees saw him on the bus they were shouting' benjamino, benjamino!!' To think I once had a serious working role and a briefcase!!

This is the thread I want you to comment on; should I charge full day for Thurs?

Today was a nightmare... 9 year old on half-term was being very helpful with 5 month old little sister, but wouldn't let her sleep.
He wants to pick her up every time she cries - I know her cries, I know her tired cry, why won't he just leave her alone when I tell him too!
Oh well, tomorrow is nearly here (10 mins, or less)... hope it goes better.

Sorry for not reading all the previous messages... but I feel the need to get some sleep.
