my policy is I charge for bank holidays all year round, I am usually closed xmas week and I charge according to my anual holiday agreements with parents. so If you tell parent you are having x days hol per year paid, or unpaid, then you stick to that preferably giving them at signing contract stage a list of your holidays for the coming year, sept to sept etc, stating which days are chargeable or half fee or full fee whatever you have decided on before hand. MOST parents have paid time off over xmas and many get family tax every week whether they pay you that week or not

My cm is always closed on BH's and contract states that she doesn't charge.
My kids have never been over the inbetween xmas period but I have always paid her retainer for that time - she is available to have them - so I pay.
