What a treat, marmite on toast! Yum. Glad you've got someone else. There seems to be a lot of us that are fed up with minding at the moment. I've only got about 6 months left tbh. I need to move on. DD is 12 now and doesn't need me to be around as much anymore, so I think its time I got back out there. I love childminding, well I love the looking after children part of it anyway, but I think I want to get dressed up again! YKWIM? Its all very well being able to wear your jeans and t-shirt everyday for work, but I don't look much different at the weekend! I want to wear nice suits again and high heels!

maximummummy · 13/10/2007 15:40

gosh maureen what job did you do before?
i wore jeans and t-shirts for my previous job too!!! mind they weren't at risk from sticky hand prints and snot!
my dd is just 13 with attitude

Mo I know exactly where your coming from re dressing the same, day after day after day, would also love to get "dressed up" occasionally.

maximummummy, glad your feeling better about everything and fingers crossed you get the new litttle girl.

Well, ladies, I have been extra eficient and I've just soaked my fruit for our christmas cake in sherry! Hopefully will cook it next weekend, yum!

MaureenMLove · 13/10/2007 15:46

I used to work for an advertising agency in London, so although I could wear jeans if I wanted, I always liked wearing something smart. I don't even have a nice handbag anymore and I own 1 pair of high healed shoes! As Holly Hunter said in Always, I want girl clothes!

Katymac · 13/10/2007 16:39

I wear skirts and blouses for childminding mainly because Dh won't iron t shirts

I'm making a dress (quite badly btw) but enjoying doing something for me - iyswim

Hi everyone

Just got back from my first go on the back of dh's motorbike. I was crapping myself very nervous on the way to the pub for lunch but then LOVED it coming back and didn't want to stop!!! He's had this bike nearly a year now (got out of the money he won for loosing his job on xmas eve couple of years ago - some will remember!!!) and we've not been able to get anyone to look after ds so we can go out. Well my brother is obviously getting bored as he's taken him swimming this afternoon

Maxi - CM can be a bit disheartening at times when it comes to parents or to times when you struggle for work!! This new mindee sounds hopeful, keep us posted! Was it you on THAT thread last night?

Mo - how long have you been childminding? I totally get what you mean about smart clothes. I used to always dress smart for work and I do miss that but I also miss the social side too, however, I think I'll be childminding for some time yet! Ds is only 4 and I still haven't completed my family yet!!

henni - you're brave, I've never made anything like that before!! Anyway, how are you today? I've been thinking of you!

Katy - tell us about the dress then....is it for a special occasion?

Right, off to have a lie down whilst my food settles. Making the most of no ds, doesn't happen often!

Byeeeeeeeeeeee

Katymac · 13/10/2007 18:31

I'm doing a ballroom dancing comp

Megsdaughter · 13/10/2007 18:40

Ive done nothing all day

was going to wash and polish the car I need to put on eBay, but DS and DDIL need me transport a bed in it tomorrow so decided to wait till after. (My excuse anyway)

I'm glad you are all feeling more positive about CMing, I must admit I gave up for four years to run a pub, and missed it so much, I went back to it.

Don't think I could give it up again, although I do intend to retire 55, which is only 7 years away.

Am thinking of then working with the Care commission or a Children's centre then just part time, couldnt sit around doing nothing.

It all depends on my health really.

looney I rode bike for years and loved it, it is the one thing I really miss doing with this bloody Fibromyalgia.

bloodsuckingLOONEY · 13/10/2007 19:07

Katy - sounds great, good luck

Meg - I like to think I'll be childminding as long as you one day, it's great you love it so much afte all this time Oh....the bike was great . Dh is 15 yrs older and has years and years of experience and I've only been on the back of a racing bike when I was 16 and the idiot went very very fast and put me off. Dh has a cruiser and it's lovely and I'm pleased I'm not scared anymore, I think it had a lot to do with trust in the end! Oh, and the pint at the pub helped

Megsdaughter · 13/10/2007 19:18

We used to go down to Poole Quay every Tuesday night to bike night, then ride back the long way and stop off for a drink (non alcoholic of course)

bloodsuckingLOONEY · 13/10/2007 20:31

Sounds cool Shosh, not quite sure I'm up to going too far atm, need to get more used to it which will be hard as it's already taken nearly a year to get my first go! I did tell dh I'd love to do more of that when ds is older and we have more freedom, but it depends on whether or not dh will be still up to it then. Anyway, it was a nice change to be a biker for an afternoon!

maximummummy · 13/10/2007 20:42

bloodsuckingLOONEY · 13/10/2007 21:03

maximummummy · 13/10/2007 21:19
