Hello.

Hope someone can help 🤞🏽🤞🏽

I've recently started a new job as a nanny, I've got 7 years experience and am fully qualified but in a panic said £10 p/h for two hours a day (that's all I'll be doing for a while) but I've been asked to do a 3 week shift of 14 hours a day 4/5 days a week and have NO idea what to charge fairly?! Have been told to ask for 170 a day but I'm worried that's too much. Please can someone enlighten me!

Depends a bit where you are. I pay £13 ph in the Midlands which is top tier round here but I’ve got 3 kids including a baby and she is basically Mary Poppins. I’d think £10 was a bit low for an actual career nanny so £11-12 maybe, but down south would be more.

£10PH is far too low.

I’m no expert (been out of the business for quite a few years).

How many children? What’s your expected duties? Will you be expected to help with homework/sole responsibility/drive them around - can you do any extras I.e. teach them to swim/help with a language/instrument? What part of the country?

£20 for two hours work is surely not worth the travel time? You’ll still need to get other work to support yourself. You should factor in this inconvenience to your expected pay.

To backtrack when you go back to then with a. Decent price you can backtrack with ‘sorry I originally asked for £10PH when I started out 7 years ago...’

If you told them £10, then why would 14 hours not be £140?
Is getting that amount suitable for your area? Is it enough for you to live on? Will it cause any issues with taxation - you may have been earning under £100 per week... but now could be £560+ per week.

Did you discuss gross ?

Why would 14hrs be £170. Should be £140
