We have used au pair world in the past and have always found good au pairs that way but not sure how it is now with Brexit looming. We paid for the 3 month premium subscription and found an au pair within the first month.

We’ve always used au pair world too. However, there are Fewer au pairs at the moment who are willing to come to the U.K. right to work for EU citizens have not been determined, Then add COVID into the mix.....

Canadians, Australians New Zealanders are allowed to work in the U.K and have good English. Some South Africans have UK passports too and can come to work here as well.
What sort of childcare do you need? It may be easier to get a nanny whilst you get the children settled and the COVID situation settles.

The ones we've had have come specially to improve their English so that's not been great in the first instance.

Often their written English is better (or easier to translate) so between writing things down / texting and google translate we have managed. Plus they've taken English classes so they leave with much better English than they arrived with!

I would recommend the new APL Aupair links website, which is being set up to hopefully deal with AuPair intakes after Brexit. It's easy to use and will be updated as the Government releases new info. www.aupairlinks.co.uk/about-us/

Also in terms of English, the Scandinavians and Nordic countries all speak English like natives, so do most Dutch young people.

@HRHQueenMe I assume it’s your company OP, but we don’t know how it’s going to work post-brexit. You also need to offer something different to au pair world.

HRHQueenMe · 25/10/2020 13:22

Just signed up as a user, it's not my company. Please don't be so judgemental, I was just answering tje op's question.

underneaththeash · 25/10/2020 18:31

@HRHQueenMe why would you recommend a new company (which you've not used), unless it's your own?
Au pair websites do need to offer something different to au pair world, or why would anyone use them? Au pair world has several thousand au pairs (usually) and is inexpensive and easy to navigate.

I've used AuPairworld for years, and recruited all my aupairs from there. I've tried other companies like Great AuPairs , to broaden my search as I am very specific in my recruitment. APL sells itself by seemingly trying something different and preparing for a No Deal Brexit. I signed up, because it was easy to use and free. Will it be sny good? Who knows! Nobody knows the furure for AuPairs right now. I wish I owned my own business but I don't. Let's just help people and answer their questions.
