Babysitters - how much per hour in London?

Hi, quick question: - we usually get family or friends to babysit but tonight we've got an acquaintance helping out. The only thing is, she doesn't know how much to ask for and I'm not sure how much to pay her. What are the going rates for evening babysitting in London? Or what do you pay yours? Thanks.

I charge £6-£7 an hour to babysit as a qualified nanny/ childminder.

However I seem to struggle getting a babysitter for my two who charges less than £8 an hour..some nannies here charge £10ph!!

We are in Ealing west London

£5-£6 but we are a bit West of West London. (still inside M25)

We pay ours bet £7-8 per hour. The £7-er gets a cab home. The £8 is a qualified nursery nurse from our daughter's nursery and FAB. And lives right down the road. DD goes down contentedly etc etc and worth it.

I charge £7-£8 an hour Im in SW London. All depends upon age/experience/qualifications.

Great. Thanks all for your replies. I paid £9 per hour and now am feeling over generous, but I can't pay her less next time! Idiot me!

I know nannies that charge £10 an hour and have no problem getting work. If your babysitter is trustworthy and reliable then, maybe its worth paying a bit more :0

We pay £8/hour (plus travel if required, but generally a lift to the station is all they need) to the staff from DS's nursery -- again, qualified nursery nurses mostly in late 20s or 30s. This is in SW London.

Don't feel bad about paying that much, it's worth it to get someone good, who will come back again.
