How much does a nanny cost (MK area)?

I'm thinking of going back to work full time (am a childminder at the mo) but, as a childminder, I know how much sending my kids to a childminder will cost. So I'm weighing up my options.

I have a 1 year old and 3 year old who goes to playgroup every morning and I would be looking for a live-out nanny 8am til 6pm really. Never even considered a nanny before really, so and info would be helpful.

I would say that if you budgeted for £100 per day (to include employers NI payments), then that would not be far off.

It really will depend on how much you can get someone to accept. I would have thought £8-£9 gross per hour may be doable.

Try looking around for nanny jobs in your area, so that you get a feel for what the market is offering.

Just done a quick search at NannyJob and there is a 4-day per week position, 12 hour days, advertised at £280-£300 net per week... which if taking 300 net per week is around 391 gross, employers NI is around £38, so £429 cost to employer per week... for 48 hours childcare. It is just over £8 per hour gross for the nanny, if calculated hourly.

Therefore I would suggest offering £8 gross per hour, and seeing what interest you get, then increase a bit if necessary if you don't get a positive response.
