Wedding Next Summer in Leeds

My sister is getting married next summer in a Leeds hotel (date and venue to be confirmed)

I am going to be matron of honor and my little DD a bridesmaid. We will be booking a family room in the hotel in order to stay overnight.

My question is would I be able to find/afford to pay for a qualified nanny to sit in the hotel room for a few hours in the evening with my DD.

I might keep her up a bit later but she is normally in bed by 7:30pm at the latest.

I wouldn't need the nanny to do anything except be there just in case and to ring down for me, if DD wakes up.

I would need someone from between maybe 8pm and 12pm.

Any advice, estimations of what I can expect to pay or recommendations ?

Oh, by next summer DD will be 2 years old...if that makes a difference.

Hi BE I am a childminder and also run a mobile event creche. We offer a nanny service that can cover the whole day or just evening or full creches if there are lots of children attending. If you are interested email me on [email protected]

I am a childminder and in May stayed for two nights in a nanny-room in a hotel to care for the adorable 7mth old daughter of a couple who got married near my home.
I just charged my usual one-to-one rate ie just above minimum wage.
It made a lovely change and I really enjoyed it.
Local childminders are always worth asking.
This family came to visit me twice at my home prior to their big weekend so that their dd could get to know me a bit, and me her.

I'm a nanny and sometimes do hotel bookings for weddings. I charge £7 per hour.

I prefer to meet the family beforehand, but sometimes with weddings this isn't always possible if the family are travelling to the event. If you can't meet the nanny either go through a national agency like sitters, they do all the checks for you, or get a friend/relative to meet them and be really REALLY thorough checking all references and qualifications yourself.

Or use a MNer!

We have used babysitters in hotels for our dd at various ages from 6m to now (almost 2).

We've used agency sitters and ones provided by the hotel. Each time we have asked hotel to arrange one they have been qualified nannies, they have arranged it in advance and sent us the details of the sitter so we can speak to her beforehand if we wanted. Never had a problem either way. You can try local agencies, or a national one or speak to the hotel (which hotel is it - I know some hotels in Leeds)

Most recent problem is that dd is always after not going to sleep if there is someone in room so last time sitter had to go and read in the bathroom til she was asleep!

BE if you get really stuck, you know I'd do it don't you

(((TF))), I think asking you to travel 100 miles for a three hours of babysitting is a bit much to ask (plus I would want to sit in the hotel room with you and catch up, rather than be back at the wedding )

Frannikin are you near Leeds ?

WindyAnna, I don't know the venue but I'll find out.

Sadly I'm in Birmingham...

If you can find out where it is I will see what I can find out for you about what the options are - I know some people who work for 2 of the Leeds hotels so if it is one of them I will see what I can do.

Am originally from Wakefield (not far from Leeds) although live down south now - still have friends up there so will ask around about options.
