Hi everyone, I'd be very grateful to hear your opinions.
My son (14 months) would have started nursery in May, due to Covid this was pushed to August. I think being around other children would be beneficial for him.
However, we are hoping to buy a house (fingers crossed) and move to a completely different area in (what we're hoping will be around) September. Would you

  1. still start settling him into the nursery where we live atm?
  2. Seek some other temporary arrangements maybe in a smaller setting like a childminder?
  3. Keep him at home and start using childcare only once we have moved?

Thank you so much, really at a bit of a loss atm. x

Hi, Iam a childminder, if it’s only for a few weeks I would keep at home rather than letting him get settled and happy at one setting to then have to start over again. You may also find where in the past childminders were happy to take on short term contracts at the moment it’s to much risk and will be looking for long term clients to get over the lockdown and not earning. Generally August is a very busy month for childminders as they have all the school children in as well and with many out of school and holiday clubs not open the demand is great.
