okay, I think I probably am being a mean old bat... or am I? My nanny has put on the grocery list some boxes of frozen ready meals for herself. jars of sauce... basically convenience foods that I generally cut out of my own grocery bill because it is cheaper to cook fom scratch. And I think it's a bit cheeky. I work 55 hours a week and manage to cook my food from scratch. Why can't she? I just think it's lazy.

But, then I wonder if I'mbeing mean. You know, a frozen meal here and there really isn't THAT expensive. I think it's more about the principle that she spends a good part of the day in the house yet expects not to have to cook.

Is she taking the piss, or am I a whitch?

my bosses are the same for me

I have my own tea there (Twinings lady grey) (actually one of nanny friends bosses buys 'my' tea for me at their house as well , because im normally there at least once a week)

by boss also knows how much i love cinammon and raisen bagels and often buys some especially for me

she keeps asking what food I want to eat lol, even though i have been there a year and ALWAYS eat with the children exactly the same food that I feed them!

Big issue. My stepsons' nanny cooks for them at their mother's house and I cook for them at our house. They much prefer the food I cook and have therefore asked their nanny to cook the same meals that I cook - but they still didn't like it. It transpired the nanny was buying identical organic hamburgers from the same shop as me, but frying them in margarine rather chargrilling them the way I do... that she didn't have a clue how to make a proper Bolognese sauce from scratch so bought Buitoni sauce in a jar etc. Food choices and food preparation are so individual.

I don't think it would be fair to ask a living-in nanny or au pair to exclusively eat the meals that the family liked if they weren't to her taste and, likewise, I don't think it would be fair on the family for him/her to feed the children food they don't like. I think it takes time to reach a happy compromise and should be taken very gently
