Which of the following do you feel is better?

A.) From £2.50 per hour (per child)
B.) £10 per hour (per family)

Please answer A or B along with how many children you have in your family... eg. A1, A3, B5 etc.

In what way better? Do you mean cheaper?

KaySamuels · 22/09/2007 09:55

Erm - I wouldn't decide my childcare based purely on cost.

I would think if a family were to do this then from your options based solely on cost it would depend how many kids they had so option b would only be cheaper if they had four or more children.

XcupcakemummyX · 22/09/2007 10:05

every nanny

and

every chilminder are different

it has pros and cos to each child care provision

frannikin · 22/09/2007 11:05

But IIRC nanny nick is both a nanny and a childminder.

I'd rather employ a nanny and wouldn't mind paying the extra premium. Of course if the NANNY charged per child, then I'd be doubly happy - it would be the cost of a childminder with the benefits of a nanny.

lulumama · 22/09/2007 11:07

well, for me would have to be A as i have two DCs and would be cheaper than current childminder !

but cost , as has been said, is not the only consideration, but if you were getting fantastic childcare for £5 an hour for 2 children, then that would be amazing

Bewilderbeast · 22/09/2007 11:10

well only having one child A but if I had 4 children or more then b. But it would have to be good childcare, I would rather pay more for fantastic childcare than decide on price

This is a question in respect of marketing. At this stage, I was not after discussion... but just your immediate answer to the question - discussion comes later Reason being, that once you think about the question, you start to realise that there may more to it that first appears.

So please can you look at the question and give your gut / instant response. Don't let your mind think about it. If you like, pretend you have seen a sign on the roadside, while driving at 50mph+... you don't have time to think about it, you just have an instant response.

  • The Question -

Which of the following do you feel is better?

A.) From £2.50 per hour (per child)
B.) £10 per hour (per family)

Please answer A or B along with how many children you have in your family... eg. A1, A3, B5 etc.

Many thanks, all will become clear later, I promise

Hmmm...

I would want to know the variables with the from £2.50 per hour - it could start off at that and then add in x amount for age and various other things so work out much more pricey.

I am wary of anything stating "from" so for me - B2

Mum2Luke · 22/09/2007 13:58

I would probably say A as I only have one 5 yr old and 2 teens which don't need childcare.

If I had more than this say a set of 2 yr old twins and the 5 yr old then B.

I am also a childminder but charge £3.50 per hour (part-time) without the 'from' bit. I am NVQ Level 3 qualified and Ofsted suggested I charged £4 per hour because I am qualified. I explained that in our area alot of people just cannot afford that and I charged prices that both reflect my experience and affordability to parents.

I think the nursery who charged £30 per day and then 'signed out' the 12 month old child without checking she was with the parent/Grandparent at the time should be fined.
