CM Club.....How do you tell parents delicatly that their child has nits!

All my family have had them for a good few months (not sure where they came from initially),anyway, after months of combing, conditioning, lotions and potions, nitty gritty etc we've finally been nit free for the past month.

Told mindees parents to check etc and only told by one set that they'd found some- they did treat. Same mindee was sat on my knee and I could actually see them crawling again. Now this mindee does not have any contact with my own children and I myself am very carefull to avoid ay head to hea contact as I have very long thick hair that is an absolute nightmare to treat etc.

So, good people any ideas how I can delicatly put it to them that their child has them again? Sorry it's long.

Just say 'oh just to let you know I spotted some lice in xyz's head today, they are a nightmare aren't they, don't worry all kids get them'.

KaySamuels · 19/09/2007 12:06

Thinks it back to school that's done it there was a thread on it other day, even if mindee is too little for school he will be in contact with schoolies or there siblings.

Or you could chicken out and just either send a letter to all parents or put up a notice about it,

MaureenMLove · 19/09/2007 13:54

I wouldn't and haven't been delicate about it! I just come right out and tell them! Its such a shame that we feel we should pussy foot about with nits! I'd just say, I'm really sorry to have to tell you, but mindee has got nits again! Have you tried a,b,c or x,y,z?'

OrmIrian · 19/09/2007 14:00

"OY!!! YOUR CHILD HAS GOT NITS!!"

How about that?

I think you have to be direct. If they are first time parents they will be mortified but they need to get to grips - they little horrors are going to haunt them for years to come.

I used mo's tactics, mindee has gone. Just said I noticed some nits earlier, can you make sure xx is treated before coming back tomorrow. I then went on to explain that I wasn't actively looking for them! Why oh Why do we/ I feel the need to explain everything

My mum (blunt yorkshire woman), took one look at DD's head when she was about 3 and said loudly, in Morrisons Cafe.... 'EEEE THIS KID'S HEAD IS RUNNIN WICK'

tori32 · 19/09/2007 14:12

How about 'I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but unfortunately x appears to have picked the head lice back up'. I would also say that they are a nightmare and again that they all seem to get them at some point, just so the parents don't feel bad.

assuming you are minding for several children - how about a general chat saying 'there has been an incidence of nits within the children you are minding, please be sure to check your little ones head'
