Nanny to other families

Our nanny has been working with us again for the past two weeks. She is also a family member and is living with other family members who are not at work and not going out so I am aware of her movements and those she lives with. We have an 18 month old and a 5 week old. She does not have anything to do with the baby, hasn't held him or come near him. She normally works for another family but has not been working with them since the start of lockdown. Even though nannies have been allowed to work as of May 1st for non essential workers, people were very unsure about this and I don't think many people were aware but now the government have said explicitly that nannies can work. What about if they work for more then one family? That would be mixing households? But if the government have said that nannies can return to work, does she now have to if the other family want her to? Any advice appreciated, thanks

If they do ask her to then yes, I can't see how she can refuse (and expect them to still pay her). If she does go back to them, then you have to chose whether you still want her coming to you I guess. If not, you have to decide whether you will still pay her in those circumstances. Or let her go.

Nannies have always been able to work. I'm sick of reading that's they have only been allowed since x date!!!!
The original law as work from home unless you have a job that's cant be done from home !
You cant work in someone else's house from home!

I'm not asking if she can work florence, I'm asking if she has to work for both families and if that is allowed or if she can be furloughed from one family, which I've found out from another thread that she can

Nannies have always been allowed to work as can’t work from home

But sure they were advised to work for one family

I know you were not asking whether she could work.
But you did say 'now government have said nannies can work'.
So just pointing out the inaccuracy.
Its important as many nannies and families have received criticism and bad press for working from day 1.
The government never mentioned nannies working for more than one family. They are too stupid to consider that point.
Its obviously safer for a nanny to only work for one family.
