Overnight Care childminding

Have just registered to provide over night care in addition to normal daytime childminding. been planning to do it for a while, but have rushed sorting out new bedroom ready for one particular parent and upcoming one off event. Have sorted one off rate for parent in question but wondered how much it is common to charge overnight, or what lower rate for sleeping hours. usually charge double time for care after 7pm but not sure the market or our reputation as quality CMs could cope with 12 hours at double time. Want to make it worth my while, and the associated extra costs and risks but do not want to seem like a money grabbing rip off merchant either. any suggestions ? What would a qualified all night babysitter expect, or a sleep in nanny? Any ideas welcome

I can only tell you what I charge (and this was set, believe it or not, by one of the parents!). I charge £70 per night or £5.50ph, whatever works out the cheapest (my normal daytime rate is £3.80ph).

thats what i am charging this parent from 6pm to 8am, but it is for two kids. i was thinking 50 quid has got to be a minuimum. maybe i should work ouy minimumwage bit. would expect that if babysat thru an agency, I guess

Well I have 2 sisters sometimes and because they usually sleep through and I know them very very well, I do those 2 for £100 a night.

Well beeilve it or not both Kids slept thru til 5.55am so pretty pleased with that. Have alsready had another possible enquiry for 1-3 nights a week, for 1 3yr old? Any ideas anyone out there? what a good going rate in teh Midlands is for overnight. Any parents out there that would like to comment on wha they would be prepared to pay? I want to keep it reasonable but obvious make it financially viable. I did sleep all night but spend most of it worrying and dreaming about childminding! woke up with big worry knot in my tummy! about 15 mins before the kids woke.

As an overnight nanny I charge £8 up til 11pm, £4 til 7am and then £8 after 7am.

However I do negotiate flat fees if they want me until lunchtime the following morning, or all day Saturday and sleeping in Saturday night - never less than £100 though.

Some people I know just charge a flat "sleeping" charge for the time they're asleep, but hourly either side.
