Hi guys! Been looking at online courses to become and childminder but there are so many. Anyone have experience of which are best/value for money and have all you need to register? Thanks so much

Your Local Authority early years department should be able to advise you on this. Sorry, I'm not up to date with the current courses.

I would say in normal times go with your local authority as they often have their own requirements for childminders accepting funding and safeguarding procedures vary between each authority.
At the moment many childminders are struggling with little or no income and the government back tracking on promises to give them the same as other self employed sonid say until it's all resolved if you have other employment dont hand in your notice.

This. But if you're determined (and don't mind your monthly income fluctuating wildly), your local authority is probably a good start. Lots of useful info on the PACEY website too.

@jannier where did you hear that childminders do not qualify for the self employment income support scheme?

jannier · 06/05/2020 23:42

@Still1nLove The support you get depends how long you have been working you need tax returns so newly opened dont get it then its 80% of the average last years....bad years or high costs mean low profit....80% of little is very little. Receiving funding of 11 hours on 1 child....which maybe about £37 per week effects what you get. Few can live on the £76 they have been offered whilst still having to pay insurance, pacey memberships, etc. If your open costs per child are up...PPE, cleaning, separate toys and messy play trays
